👍 Shanghai named world's 4th most dynamic city

What one word would you use to describe Shanghai? How does "dynamic" sound?

Because real estate service provider JLL recently ranked Shanghai as the world's 4th most dynamic city in its Global City Momentum Index.

According to JLL, the index tracks the speed of change of a city's economy and commercial real estate market, explaining that the most dynamic cities are the ones that are able to "embrace technological change, absorb rapid population growth and strengthen global connectivity."

By those metrics, China does unsurprisingly well. The top 30 list also includes four more mainland cities: Beijing (15th), Shenzhen (22nd), Hangzhou (26th) and Nanjing (29th).

Still, Shanghai has some work to do if it wants to beat out Bangalore, Ho Chi Minh City and Silicon Valley for the top spot.

“Shanghai has strong ambitions to continue its growth and explicitly aims to become a global center for both financial services and technological innovation,” said Joe Zhou, head of research for JLL China. “For now, Shanghai’s real estate market remains one of the world’s most dynamic markets, with strong demand being driven by the growth of domestic firms.”
